Century Cruises launched its new, 398-passenger vessel Century Legend on 18 May 2013, making it the seventh of the line’s cruise ships to operate on China’s Yangtze River.
Like sister ship Century Paragon, which was launched on 19 March 2013, Century Legend has been designed for the Western traveler in collaboration with European naval architects Yran and Storbratten.
The ship features a large, multipurpose function room to host conferences, events, evening performances and guest lectures, as well as a 150-seat HD cinema with multi-lingual capabilities and a wi-fi service. It also has extended exterior elevators, a seven-storey grand atrium, a 2,000 sq ft indoor swimming pool and leisure area.
Passengers can choose between 196 exterior staterooms with private balconies, including two Presidential Suites, 34 Executive Suites, four Junior Suites and 156 Riverview Staterooms. Executive Club and Presidential Suite guests can also access an exclusive á la carte restaurant, bar and reception area.
“We are proud of this beautiful ship, Century Legend. Together with Century Paragon, which we launched just seven weeks ago, and all of our other beautiful ships, we continue our commitment to the market and all of our selling partners around the world,” said Peng Jianhu, president of Century Cruises. “We continue to strive to provide the very finest Yangtze River cruise experience available.”
Century Legend will offer four-day, downstream itineraries between Chongqing and Yichang, as well as five-day, upstream cruises on the same route. The ship will call at Shibao Pagoda, the Three Gorges of Daning River, and the Three Gorges Dam and include a transit of the dam’s locks system.
